North Atlantic LCC seeks GIS contractor

The GIS technician will fill a three-month contract position helping to maintain, update, and provide technical support for spatial data.

The North Atlantic LCC is looking for a GIS technician to fill a short-term contractor position from August 15, 2016, to December 31, 2016, based at the US Fish and Wildlife Service Northeast Regional Office in Hadley, Mass.

Duties will include:

  • Maintaining and updating spatial data on the North Atlantic LCC's Conservation Planning Atlas on Data Basin and on US Geological Survey's ScienceBase-Catalog 

  • Maintaining and updating spatial data page on the North Atlantic LCC website

  • Managing Conservation Planning Atlas on Data Basin as needed (creating maps/galleries, providing support to users, and managing groups)

  • Responding to data requests and helping partners and other users access data

  • Creating maps as needed for presentations, communication materials, etc.

Required skills:

  • Proficient in ArcGIS software (mainly Map and Catalog)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Ability to troubleshoot independently 

  • Experience managing/editing websites
